Downtown historic district:
Downtown New BernThis is definitely where the 18th Century meets the 21st. Walking along the tree-lined streets within New Bern's 12 blocks of historic district is a treat enjoyed by locals as well as thousands of tourists. Some of the finely restored homes within our historic district date back into the 1700's, and many into the 1800's. Restoration has been done with pride and craftsmanship unequaled. Historic preservation promises to maintain the charm and character innate in this beautiful area. Pride in ownership of these fine homes spills out onto the sidewalks. Riverside historic district:

Riverside is just north of the downtown Historic district and gentrifying rapidly. It runs from the shores of the Neuse River west of National Avenue.
